Our History
In 1980 Graeme Thomas had completed his apprenticeship and went out on his own providing precision engineering services to local processing plants like Taranaki Farmers Fertiliser (now Ravensdown) and Shell. This included machining the specialist brass fittings on the diving bell that took the divers down to the sea floor during the construction of the offshore oil rig Maui A. At 300m deep, this application was under immense pressure, with the lives of the divers dependent on a 100% reliable seal.Graeme formed a reputation for reliability and was known for finding a working solution to any issue. A decade later, with sons Gary and Daniel having joined the force, we were now also supplying and installing pump and pipeline solutions. With demand in the market for an understanding and responsive piping systems distributor, and having walked a mile in the pipeline installers boots, we grew to fill that spot. In 2005 Waterworks emerged, importing and distributing agricultural piping systems nationwide. The range grew over time with the popular addition of industrial systems such as Europress press-fit and Spears sch80 PVC.Today Waterworks includes three generations and combines experience from 38 years in the game with modern and innovative processes. We utilise our wealth of experience to make the pipeline installers job easier, set apart by our consistent dedication to delivering the right solution on time, every time, allowing you to have confidence in supply, knowing you will get what you need, when you need it.As a family company, we bring an extra level of passion to everything we do. We not only supply reliable piping systems, but we also provide you with a greater experience designed to increase your productivity. That's why the likes of Fonterra, Coca-Cola, Sanitarium, Silver Fern Farms, Grey Base Hospital, Contact Energy, Giltrap, and many more choose to partner with Waterworks.
