Electrofusion

What is Electrofusion?

Electrofusion fittings, made from PE100 are used for the joining of plastic pipes such as HDPE and MDPE using an electrical current to melt the material at the joint interface. The Electrofusion piping system is commonly used for the conveyance of water, irrigation, gaseous fuels, compressed air, and certain chemical solutions. These fittings are made of high-density PE 100, which ensures both the internal and external layer of the pipe is welded together. Although the process of the Electrofusion fittings alters from the traditional fitting methods, it ensures the formation of secure, leak-free, and dependable joints.

Technical Specifications:

Key Benefits:

• Sizes: Available in Metric O.D. series from 20mm O.D. up to 630mm O.D.

• Material: PE100

• Operating temperatures: The normal fusing temperature range is from -5°C to 23°C. The fittings are designed to work between -10°C and 45°C (metric sizes) and -30°C and 50°C (imperial sizes) with automatic fusion temperature correction.

•Pressure rating: SDR11

• Pressure rating notes: PN16 water | PN10 gas must be de-rated at temperatures above 27°C

Durable: Electrofusion fittings are known for their durability and ensure the formation of secure, leak-free, and dependable joints that will last around 40 years without requiring too much maintenance.

Low costs: Being qualified, trained, and certified in welding may be required for the installation of electrofusion fittings, however it is a fast and simple system to install, reducing installation time and costs. Post installation, there will be minimal repair costs due to the durability of these fittings.

Easy Installation: Installation and fusing is a relatively quick and efficient process. Being made from PE100, these fittings are lightweight and flexible making the installation easier.
